The Canadian Ambassador to Cairo, Louis Douma, congratulated the Egyptian national football team for reaching the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations being held in Cameroon, following their 2-1 victory over Morocco last Sunday. He shared a widely circulated image on social media in Egypt showing Egyptian national team star and Liverpool player Mohamed Salah embracing and comforting Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, who was crying on the field after the match.

The ambassador tweeted: "This is why we call Mohamed Salah the Egyptian King, a model of leadership and sportsmanship for all of us." He then congratulated Egyptians by saying in English: "Congratulations, Egypt."

Salah excelled in leading the Egyptian team to the semifinals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Morocco 2-1 in the quarterfinals held on Sunday night. Mohamed Salah was named the best player of the match after scoring one goal and assisting the second for Mahmoud Trezeguet, contributing 100% of Egypt's goals.

According to the global football statistics website "SofaScore," Mohamed Salah received the highest rating in the match with eight points. The Egyptian and Cameroonian teams will meet on Thursday in the semifinals. Salah posted on his Twitter account that there are "two obstacles remaining," referring to the two matches left for the Egyptian team to win the cup, along with symbols of the Egyptian flag and a red heart.
