Authorities in the Bahamas reported the discovery of the bodies of three American tourists who died under mysterious circumstances in a luxury hotel. Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper stated in a statement, "I was unfortunately informed of the death of three American visitors, consisting of two men and a woman, at a hotel in Exuma." He added that "the police are investigating and the cause of death is unknown," but "there is no suspicion that what happened was a criminal act." The official mentioned that a fourth American woman was airlifted to the hospital, without providing further details.
The incident occurred at the luxurious "Sandals Emerald Bay" hotel overlooking the beach on Great Exuma Island. The "Sandals Resorts" group commented, "A health emergency was initially reported, and according to our protocols, we immediately alerted healthcare professionals and local authorities," refusing to provide further details "out of respect for the privacy of our guests."
The police stated that shortly after 9 AM (1 PM GMT) on Friday, they were informed of finding a man "unconscious" in the hotel. Upon arrival, investigators found a man on the floor in one of the villas. The police explained that "no signs of trauma were observed," and the victim was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. In a second villa, the police found another man "lying near a wall," as well as a woman lying on a bed and deceased.
The police added that these two individuals had complained of suffering from an "illness" the previous day and were "treated" before returning to their accommodation, without specifying the nature of the "illness." Investigators clarified that they are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of the mysterious deaths.
