Aoun Sends Condolences to Abbas on Abu Aqleh's Martyrdom

President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, sent a condolence message to the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, mourning the martyrdom of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, who was killed by Israeli gunfire.

President Aoun affirmed that "Israeli occupation adds with this crime to its bloody history, a new chapter of oppression, aggression, and disregard for rights, life, and justice."

The text of the telegram read: "I received with pain the news of the martyrdom of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh by the treacherous Israeli gunfire, while she was performing her journalistic duties in the service of truth and free opinion.

As she joins the ranks of martyrs of occupied Palestine who faced the arrogance of Israeli occupation with their steadfast will, she once again confirms with her blood that this brutal occupation disregards all international covenants and laws governing media work, adding with this crime to its bloody history a new chapter of oppression, aggression, and disregard for rights, life, and justice.

On this sad occasion, I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and to the entire Palestinian people, praying to God Almighty to embrace the martyr in His mercy, and to grant her family patience and solace, and to bestow you with health and determination in serving your people and the just Palestinian cause."
