Shukran Murtaja Remembers Her Father … And Who Did She Call a Crazy Person?

Syrian artist Shukran Murtaja recalled today, Thursday, the anniversary of her late father Abdul Wahab Murtaja's passing, who died on this day in 2004.

Murtaja shared a photo of her father's grave on her personal Instagram page and wrote: "Every year I repeat this post because nothing changes, and the sadness—the crazy one—knocks on my heart at this hour, thinking that I have forgotten, not realizing that he is a part of my being." She added: "My father is my support; how I cry for your absence, especially in my moments of weakness. If I had known the date of your departure, I would have filled a bottle with your scent and anointed myself with it every dawn. You gave me everything and only wanted my smile. Rest in peace, my beloved." She concluded her heartfelt message by saying: “Hug your fathers and take as much strength from them as you can, as it will be necessary if you fall in the battles of life. Fatiha and prayers are appreciated, not demanded.”

Her fans and colleagues in the artistic community supported her and prayed for her father’s mercy, including Amal Arafa, who commented, “A thousand mercies and light upon his soul; no one can replace a father. May God strengthen your heart and give you patience.” Sulaaf Faokherji wrote, “Mercy upon his soul and may he protect your mother,” while many others, such as Maysoun Abu Assad, Lujain Imran, Nadine Khouri, Mahmoud Nasr, and others, also offered their condolences.

Shukran Murtaja is starring in the series "Al-Kondosh," written by artist Hussam Tahseen Biek, and directed by Samir Hossni. She is also a guest star in the series "Haret Al-Qubba," written by Osama Kokash and directed by Rasha Hossam Sharbatji.
