Assault on Female Doctor and Another Physician

A Saudi citizen assaulted a Saudi female doctor at Al-Noor Specialist Hospital in Mecca by hitting her in the face. He also attacked another doctor who attempted to calm him down before he was subdued and apprehended. The spokesperson for the Mecca Health Cluster, Hatem Al-Masoudi, stated that the incident took place on 13/1/1443 AH in the emergency department while the healthcare practitioners (a doctor and a female doctor) were performing their duties to serve patients.

According to Okaz newspaper, the assailant requested the doctor to check his file, and when she informed him that they were waiting for the lab test results, he assaulted her by slapping her in the face. When another doctor came to calm the assailant, he also attacked him, prompting hospital security to intervene and law enforcement to address the incident, leading to the assailant being referred to the relevant authorities for further action.

The Mecca Health Cluster emphasized its commitment to the safety of patients and all its members and healthcare staff, asserting that it will not tolerate any verbal or physical assaults against them. The health cluster will spare no effort to protect its members and take necessary legal measures to ensure their rights are upheld and to restore their dignity in the event of any harm.
