A new crisis has arisen in the realm of music in Egypt following an exchange of insults and bullying between duo Hassan Shakshouk and Reda El Bahrawy, leading to the intervention of the Musicians' Syndicate.
The incident began between the two popular singers when Hassan Shakshouk was performing at a concert in the North Coast. He had an altercation with El Bahrawy's band, which was scheduled to perform after Shakshouk. However, his band took the stage before Shakshouk had finished performing, which triggered Shakshouk's angry outburst and inappropriate language.
Upon El Bahrawy’s arrival on stage, he sent a recorded message through the microphone to Shakshouk, threatening him. Two days later, during another concert, Shakshouk decided to retaliate, sending indirect messages that prompted the Musicians' Syndicate, led by Hani Shakir, to take action.
The syndicate decided to suspend both singers and barred them from obtaining singing licenses for a month, prohibiting them from performing during the suspension period due to their bullying and exchange of insults in front of an audience.
The syndicate deemed their actions detrimental to Egyptian art and undermining its value, stating that art has historically been a guide for values and ethics, and never a supporter of moral decay. The statement highlighted that such behavior came from individuals who do not appreciate the blessings they have in front of an audience entitled to uplifting content that respects their dignity.
