The Government Commissioner at the Military Court, Judge Fadi Akiki, has issued a judicial order to detain Officer H. A. and three of his assistants in the ongoing investigation into the death of a Syrian detainee accused, along with others, of belonging to and working for "ISIS." The State Security Directorate released a statement confirming that, as a result of the investigation with members of the cell, they confessed to information that led to the detention of an accomplice, the Syrian national, for whom the military judiciary is currently investigating the circumstances of his death.

The statement indicated that during the interrogation of the Syrian detainee, he confessed to belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS and stated that he was one of its fighters, pledging loyalty to them.

The Directorate promptly put the incident in the hands of the competent judiciary, which was supervising the investigation, with the understanding that it is solely responsible for clarifying all the circumstances surrounding the incident and for taking the necessary legal measures under its supervision. According to sources within the Directorate, the detention of the officer and his three assistants reflects its commitment to thoroughly investigating the incident to clarify the circumstances of the detainee's death transparently while ensuring accountability. They emphasized that any mistake by some elements should not obscure the Directorate's commitment to adhering to laws and respecting treaties and agreements that ensure fair and transparent investigations that respect human rights.
