Recently, an American entomologist revealed why some people are more prone to mosquito bites than others.
Entomologist Dan Kline has spent years studying mosquitoes and believes he has found significant evidence to explain their behavior. One of Dr. Kline's most unusual discoveries is that mosquitoes are attracted to smelly feet, specifically to the bacteria that emit a scent similar to a type of cheese called Limburger.
Dr. Kline conducted a study in the 1990s to determine whether mosquitoes are more attracted to certain types of cheese based on smell. He experimented with different varieties and found that blue cheese and Limburger were the most appealing to mosquitoes. He later tested a pair of stinky socks worn for four days and discovered that mosquitoes were immediately attracted to them.
Dr. Kline also found that mosquitoes are drawn to the odors produced by bacteria on human skin and the volatile chemicals released from the mouth. Other factors include body heat, genetics, and cosmetics.
According to Dr. Kline, mosquitoes frequently bite areas like the ankles or face, suggesting that different volatile substances in various parts of the body attract mosquitoes, as reported by the Daily Mail.
