The dispute between Syrian artist Assala and Egyptian artist Angham has reignited after a period of reconciliation following Assala's divorce from director Tarek Al-Arian. Assala surprised everyone yesterday by deleting her apology post to Angham that she had published on her Instagram page last April, which Angham had accepted at the time.
In her April post, Assala wrote: "Without any prelude, I would like to apologize to my dear friend Angham for what I said, as I misjudged the situation.. I also sincerely apologize to my children Omar and Abdulrahman for what happened.. No matter how Naghoma responds, I will accept and appreciate it."
At that time, Angham responded by reposting Assala's apology and commented: "We all make mistakes, Assala, and it counts that you have the courage to apologize. Despite everything that happened, I can only accept your apology, and God forgives what has passed."
The conflict began between the two artists, who shared a friendship, when Angham announced her marriage to music producer Ahmed Ibrahim, who was previously married to Yasmin Eissa, the niece of Tarek Al-Arian, Assala's ex-husband, early last year. Assala did not accept this, as she considered Angham to be related to Ahmed Ibrahim's first wife.
Assala stated in media interviews that she did not know the extent of feelings Angham held towards their friendship. She confirmed that she was very disturbed by the news of the marriage, and clarified that she did not confront Angham about it but merely unfollowed her on social media.
