A Russian beauty queen underwent cosmetic surgery costing £3,000, resulting in her facial disfigurement and leaving her with a permanent disability that prevents her from closing her eyes, even while sleeping. According to the Daily Star, 43-year-old Yulia Tarasievich, who was a runner-up in the international "Miss Russia" contest two years ago, went to receive treatment at a clinic shortly after. There, she suffered facial disfigurement during a facelift and eyelid reconstruction procedure, emerging from surgery with a swollen and inflamed face.
Tarasievich stated, "I came in with a beautiful and healthy face; I only wanted to correct some fine lines caused by aging, but unfortunately, I lost my health." As a result, the Russian beauty underwent an emergency operation to save her eyes from blindness and filed a criminal complaint against two doctors involved in the procedure that led to her facial disfigurement.
The two surgeons, including an Arab doctor named Khaled Omar and another named Andrei Komarov, explained that she suffers from a rare hereditary condition known as scleroderma, asserting it is impossible to predict such a condition's onset during surgery as happened with "Yulia." They denied and disclaimed responsibility for the botched surgery.
However, Yulia confirmed that all tests she underwent prior to the surgery were normal. She also had previously successfully undergone cosmetic surgery for a nose job without any hereditary complications. She developed scars on her cheek when all the facial tissue was removed and discovered that part of her face is no longer functional.
It is noteworthy that scleroderma occurs when the immune system attacks the connective tissues beneath the skin, leading to hard and thick areas of skin, and sometimes causing issues with internal organs and blood vessels.
