The Taliban announced on Monday that it has granted amnesty to all officials of the former Afghan government, including President Ashraf Ghani, and assured them that they can return and live in Afghanistan. Taliban official Khalil Rahman Haqqani stated in an interview with Pakistan's "Geo" channel that the Taliban offers amnesty to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Vice President Amrullah Saleh, inviting them to return to the country if they wish. He added, "There is no hostility between the Taliban and ousted President Ashraf Ghani, Vice President Amrullah Saleh, and National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib." Haqqani continued by saying, "We forgive Ashraf Ghani, Amrullah Saleh, and (the Afghan President's Security Advisor) Hamdullah Mohib. We forgive from our side, from the general (anyone who fought against us) to the ordinary person." He also urged and called upon Afghans who fled the country not to do so (flee), adding that the propaganda claiming the Taliban will take revenge on them "is spread by the enemies," according to his statement. Haqqani promised safety for all nationalities living in the country and affirmed that "Tajiks, Baluchs, Hazaras, and Pashtuns are all our brothers."
