# The New iMac: A Close Look

Apple has transitioned into a new phase in the production of iMac laptops after 15 years; the American company is no longer relying on Intel processors or the aluminum body with wide black borders. It has announced a new technical and design launch with the introduction of the new 24-inch iMac.

The new laptop features Apple's high-performance M1 chip, which is notable for significantly reducing energy consumption while providing enhanced performance. Moreover, iMac computers are no longer limited to the silver color; they are now available in blue, green, pink, yellow, and purple.

**Slim Design**

The new 24-inch Apple iMac is 11.5 mm thick, making it thinner than many screens that do not have a computer inside. This is thanks to the slim motherboard equipped with the M1 chip. Additionally, the company has employed a technical trick by placing the 230-volt power supply electronics in an external body.

This external body connects to the back of the screen via a woven fabric cable in a matching color, secured by magnets. This cable not only transfers electrical power but also transfers data if needed. A Gigabit Ethernet cable can also be connected to the small white box. This design helps reduce heat accumulation inside the device, allowing for smaller fans to be installed.

**4.5K Retina Display**

During practical testing, the 4.5K Retina display appeared remarkably impressive, capable of displaying 11.3 million pixels and over a billion colors. This display is particularly significant for photo and video editing, though it requires software with 10-bit color depth, such as Adobe Photoshop or Apple Preview.

The new 24-inch iMac comes with two Thunderbolt ports with speeds up to 40 gigabits per second. The integrated graphics card supports the connection of an external display with a resolution of up to 6K (5760 x 3240 pixels).

The new laptop is equipped with a built-in Full HD camera (1920 x 1080 pixels), and the image quality is significantly enhanced during video conferences by the image signal processor in the M1, even without professional lighting.

**Audio Quality Improvement**

In addition, Apple has improved audio quality by integrating three microphones into the new laptop for clear and natural sound transmission, along with noise-canceling capabilities to reduce background noise. The built-in audio system features six speakers with support for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos technology.

The new 24-inch Apple iMac includes 256 GB internal memory. The base model has an eight-core processor and seven graphics cores similar to the new MacBook Air, while higher-end models feature eight graphics cores. The cheaper model lacks two USB-3 ports, an Ethernet port integrated into the power supply unit, and Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the built-in keyboard.

Apple announced that the base model of the new iMac is available in white, green, pink, and silver, but not in yellow, orange, or purple.
