Following the announcement of Lebanese Health Minister Hamad Hassan's infection with the COVID-19 virus, confusion arose, especially after his attendance at meetings that included President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Hassan Diab.
After the presidential office announced that President Aoun underwent routine medical tests at a hospital, some Lebanese questioned Michel Aoun's health, linking it to his interaction with Health Minister Hamad Hassan. A source close to the presidential palace confirmed that Aoun is in good health, is not under quarantine, and is carrying on with his activities normally, clarifying that the tests he underwent were unrelated to the Health Minister's COVID-19 infection.
Prime Minister Hassan Diab's office did not issue any statements regarding his quarantine or taking a PCR test; however, a close source confirmed that adherence to preventive measures was always in place during the meetings attended by Diab, including wearing masks and maintaining safe distances.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed Hassan's infection and his transfer to Saint George Hospital in Hadath, stating that he is in a good health condition. Meanwhile, a source in the Ministry of Health suggested that Hassan is unlikely to have transmitted the virus to anyone during the last two meetings, especially since the minister and attendees consistently wore masks throughout.
