The Emirati artist Hussain Al Jassmi sang the opening song for the Expo 2020 celebration in Dubai, titled "Marhaba Ya Hala Hay Bi Al Shahama... Marhaba Bil Suyour Al Mukhlisien." The lyrics were taken from a poem written by the founder of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The words "Al Suyour Al Mukhlisien" are as follows: "Marhaba Ya Hala Hay Bi Al Shahama... Marhaba Bil Suyour Al Mukhlisien... Dhaminin Al Watan Sanu Ihtiramahu... Qadrhum Indana Aali Aw Thameen... Hum Humat Al Watan Yawm Izdihamuh... Yawm Wulid Al Ridi Kabi Aw Mahin... Jamana Kal Jabal Asar Al Sidaamah... Wal Nashama Lahum Alam Yabeen... Yawm Samiou Al Nida Habu Al Itihamah... Zahifin Kama Asad Al Aryin."
"Al Suyour Al Mukhlisien" is a powerful poem rich in expressions that celebrate the pride and honor of the UAE, commemorating the guardians of the homeland. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan honored these protectors, who have been celebrated by many artists, including Hussain Al Jassmi. Sheikh Zayed wrote the verses of the poem during the return of the UAE Armed Forces from their participation in the defense of Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion in 1991, as they contributed to elevating the UAE's reputation on high.
