The Turkish ambassador to Doha, Muhammad Mustafa Koksu, confirmed that his country "wants good relations with Saudi Arabia."
In an interview with Al Jazeera Mubasher, Koksu stated that Turkey "hopes for good relations with Saudi Arabia, considering both countries important in the region and the world." Regarding relations with Qatar, the Turkish ambassador emphasized that Turkey and Qatar cooperate to solve regional problems, affirming that "Turkish-Qatari relations have a significant contribution to peace, security, and stability in the region." He added that "the relationship between Turkey and Qatar is founded on standing for justice and mutual respect, without interfering in each other's affairs," stressing that the two countries "cooperate to resolve issues in the region."
The Turkish diplomat described the relations between the two countries as strategic and special, as they look forward to increasing their cooperation and continuing consultations. He confirmed that Turkey "always emphasizes that Gulf security is an integral part of its collective security system and that of its neighbors in the Middle East."
US agency Bloomberg reported that the UAE and Saudi Arabia are currently considering the establishment of better relations with Turkey, which could benefit trade and security in a region fraught with turmoil. It was noted that these moves depend on Turkey agreeing to abandon support for the Muslim Brotherhood, classified as a terrorist organization in several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt.
