No Flour for Manakish and Pastry Ovens

No Flour for Manakish and Pastry Ovens

Ali Ramal, the representative of the mills in the south, announced in a statement that "the mills informed us some time ago that there will be no flour after tomorrow except for Arabic bread ovens, and that small ovens, makroud bakeries, and biscuit and pastry factories will stop receiving flour from the extra material."

He believes that "there is a conspiracy against this sector carried out by the owners of large ovens and cartels of Arabic bread since they also produce manakish and croissants using unified flour with the addition of some improvers."

He added that "this decision is a prelude to lifting subsidies; either there will be support for all people or flour support for everyone."

He continued: "I once again call upon President Nabih Berri and His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah to stop this decision as it leads to mass extermination and displacement of tens of thousands of families who rely on this sector."

He expressed hope that "the mill owners will close the mills and not implement this criminal decision, and that they will not be partners in this destructive decision for the security of Lebanon and the Lebanese, as it will cut off their livelihood and that of their children. They will have nothing left to lose, and if this decision is not reversed, you will see thousands of affected families in the streets... O Allah, I have conveyed the message."
