Egyptian Artist Reveals His 25-Year Silent Love for Mervat Amin

An Egyptian artist, Alaa Morsi, has revealed a secret he kept for 25 years, surprising everyone by confessing that he has loved actress Mervat Amin in silence. In a television interview on Wednesday night, Alaa Morsi talked about his personal and artistic life, as well as the reasons behind his distancing from first-tier stars, despite his promising beginnings alongside actors like Mohamed Henedi, Ahmed El Sakka, Ahmed Ezz, and Ahmed Rizk.

He noted that he has never sought their assistance, as he always presents a different image of himself, assuring them that he is happy and content. He expressed his intention to invite them for Iftar during Ramadan, hoping that they would bring him a suitable work script instead of the usual sweets some bring during Iftar.

Morsi then dropped the surprise, confirming that he has been madly in love with actress Mervat Amin for 25 years but has never confessed his feelings to her, even while working together on a project. He described his love for her as strange, stating that he would fall asleep and wake up with thoughts of her and still finds it hard to discuss such matters with her.

In a segment about his career, Morsi recounted a long-ago incident when he was offered the lead role in one of the films he desired, only to be shocked when the director informed him that the screenplay had been given to producer Mohamed Hassan Ramzy, who cast Mohamed Henedi in the lead instead of Alaa Morsi. Enraged, he went to the filming location and damaged the set while Henedi was present, unaware that the role had originally belonged to Morsi.

Alaa Morsi emphasized that they faced unfavorable responses due to this situation, and ultimately, the film was not produced, especially since Henedi did not know that Morsi was supposed to have the role. He concluded by expressing his hope that his colleagues would stand by him, stating, "I had hopes in people, and they left me," specifically mentioning his colleague Mohamed Saad, on whom he had relied but who did not pay him any attention.
