Karamy Prepares the Appeal: Will the Constitutional Council Retreat?

41 votes were enough for the "People's Will" list to win a third electoral quota in the Northern Second District, added to the quotas obtained by MPs Taha Naji and Jihad al-Samad, allowing MP Faisal Karamy to retain his seat. The "gentleman," who has not digested the loss, began preparing to challenge the results before the Constitutional Council after the annulment of "ballot boxes containing 661 votes for us in the Al-Badawi and Wadi al-Nahla areas." He quickly started touring neighborhoods in Tripoli to calm his supporters, urging them not to take any negative reaction in the streets, and affirming, "You will be represented, God willing, in parliament," according to "Al-Akhbar."

This reminds one of what occurred in the 2018 elections when current MP Taha Naji outperformed former MP Dima Jamali; however, the Constitutional Council annulled Naji's victory because the slim margin of votes was deemed "insignificant," deciding to organize a by-election which Naji refrained from competing in, resulting in Jamali’s victory. This raises the question of whether the Constitutional Council will repeat its stance and decide to hold a by-election, especially since the margin is also small this time and deemed insignificant.
