Message from the Supreme Leader to Russian President Vladimir Putin

Today, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf, delivered a message from the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The press office of the Russian Parliament (Duma) announced that "the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf, who is currently visiting Moscow, handed over a message from the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, to Russian President Vladimir Putin" to his counterpart, Vyacheslav Volodin. Qalibaf began an official visit to Russia yesterday to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, stated that "Qalibaf's visit to Moscow is the first visit by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament to a foreign country, underscoring the importance that the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly's Speaker attaches to relations with the neighboring and friendly nation of Russia." He emphasized that "Iranian-Russian relations are continually developing in various fields, including parliamentary relations, and Qalibaf's visit to Moscow will certainly help deepen ties between Tehran and Moscow in other areas."

It is noteworthy that Russia and Iran maintain a strong cooperative relationship in several areas. Recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated after meeting his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in Moscow that relations between Russia and Iran would not depend on the " whims" of the United States, which imposes illegal sanctions, adding: "Our relations are developing based on the interests of two nations and peoples, and we are formulating our plans without regard to any third party."
