The State of Qatar expressed its condemnation of the rocket attack that targeted the Saudi capital, Riyadh, yesterday, Saturday, by the Yemeni group "Ansar Allah."
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release today that Qatar condemns in the strongest terms the rocket attack aimed at Riyadh, the capital of the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering it a serious act against civilians that violates all international norms and laws. The foreign ministry's statement highlighted Qatar's consistent stance in rejecting violence, criminal acts, and sabotage, regardless of the motives and reasons.
Saudi defenses intercepted seven aerial threats within two hours yesterday evening, one of which was a ballistic missile launched towards Riyadh, along with several explosive drones. The official spokesperson for the Arab coalition forces, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, stated this morning that Saudi air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by "Ansar Allah" towards the city of Riyadh, along with six "explosive" drones targeting the kingdom "to deliberately target civilians and civilian objects in the southern region, as well as the cities of Jazan and Khamis Mushait."
Furthermore, the official spokesperson for the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Riyadh, Major Mohammed Al-Hammadi, mentioned that Civil Defense teams in the city began last night to remove the remnants of a ballistic missile that was launched by the Iran-backed Houthis towards the Saudi capital from within Yemeni territory, which was intercepted and destroyed. Al-Hammadi clarified that material damage occurred to one of the houses without any human injuries or fatalities due to the missile fragments, adding that the incident was handled according to approved procedures and established plans.
