Samsung is working on producing a dual-hinge smartphone, according to a tweet by the South Korean leaker Dohyum Kim, known for the accuracy of his leaks. Kim correctly predicted information about the Galaxy S22 series, and this time he claims that Samsung is indeed aiming to manufacture a phone that can fold both vertically and horizontally.
When folded vertically, the screen will be on the outside, with space for the rear camera (reportedly consisting of three sensors with an LED flash) next to the edge of the folded display. As such, this design scheme may require the phone to be larger than the smartphones Samsung has released so far. When folded horizontally, the screen will be tucked inside. Samsung is also considering building a new user interface for the multi-folding smartphone, as reported by Kim.
Besides the aforementioned design, there is another foldable design that Samsung might consider. This foldable design allows the phone to fold into a Z shape, and the company recently obtained a patent for it, according to a previous report by "LetsGoDigital."
According to the report, with the new design, the upcoming phone can fold into a Z shape, having three separate sections to create this form. Regarding the internal components, it has been reported that Samsung might leave the middle section of the phone devoid of any significant internal elements to enhance the structural integrity of the device while placing batteries and circuit boards in the back and front foldable parts of the device. When opened, the smartphone will resemble a small tablet.
According to the patent drawings, the design features a main display equipped with an embedded fingerprint sensor as part of the screen. On the back, there is a triple rear camera setup and a USB connector for data transfer and charging, as reported by The Times of India.
