The German data company "Statista" identified the best cities for doing business in Africa, with two Arab cities competing for the top spot. The Egyptian capital, Cairo, topped the ranking, which relied on a set of data closely related to the criteria companies consider in their calculations for choosing their global locations. In addition to population size and GDP, several other factors play a crucial role in determining the suitability of a city as a business site.
The index, reviewed by "Al Arabiya.net," used a number of sub-indicators, including the "economic dimension," which is an indicator of the economic strength and level of development in the city in question. The "business environment" component focuses on infrastructure and logistics services, as well as an analysis of "society," which includes population development, education areas, and the standard of living. Meanwhile, the "charisma" dimension highlights aspects such as tourism, culture, and the environment.
Cairo scored particularly well in the operational environment, ranking first in Africa and 113th globally, while its overall ranking among 200 cities worldwide was only 176th. The chart also showed strong competition from Algiers, Johannesburg, and Casablanca in Morocco.
