According to clinical nutritionist Suzy Sawyer in an interview with the British newspaper The Sun, it is essential to choose healthy snacks that contain as many nutrients and proteins as possible while avoiding high-calorie foods during the weight loss process. During her discussion with the newspaper, Suzy revealed a selection of snacks that can be continued without affecting weight loss as follows:
**Protein-rich Foods**
Suzy stated: "Protein stimulates the hormones corresponding to insulin and glucagon, keeping blood sugar levels balanced, thus avoiding strong cravings for sweets."
She advised mixing seeds that are high in protein and essential minerals or eating small pieces of chicken with oatmeal cakes.
**Apples with Peanut Butter or Nuts**
Apples make for an easy snack, especially on the go. Experts suggest pairing them with a small handful of whole nuts or a tablespoon of nut butter, as they provide healthy fats and are a good source of protein.
**Greek Yogurt and Berries**
Suzy mentions that combining calcium-rich Greek yogurt with antioxidant-rich berries is a great recipe. She added: “Yogurt contains fewer sugars compared to many fruit yogurts, which means it will help stabilize blood glucose levels for several hours after consumption. When it comes to fruit, any type of berry, whether fresh or frozen, is relatively low in calories and high in fiber, making it an ideal choice for snacks between main meals.”
**Cheese and Crackers**
Suzy says: "Cheese is a nutrient-rich food full of protein, calcium, and magnesium, and when consumed with whole grains or corn chips, it provides the perfect balance of protein and carbohydrates."
**Toast**
A slice of healthy whole wheat bread offers more nutritional value than white bread. It can be spread with peanut butter or low-fat cheese, and topped with banana slices, chopped nuts, or tomato slices.
**Boiled Eggs**
Suzy states: “A boiled egg is completely free of carbohydrates and rich in protein, which can help you feel full between meals. Keep them in their shells to avoid unpleasant odors and try adding celery salt or smoked paprika for flavor.”
