The German Cancer Society stated that myelofibrosis is a rare cancer that affects the bone marrow due to the formation of an abnormal clone of hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow, leading to its fibrosis. The association explained that its symptoms include fatigue, exhaustion, decreased ability to exert effort, weight loss, frequent bleeding, blood clots, anemia, night sweats, bone pain, tingling sensations, poor blood circulation in the hands and feet, and enlargement of the liver and spleen. The association noted that stem cell transplantation is the only treatment for myelofibrosis, despite its risks and high mortality rate associated with it.
