Egyptian President and Qatari Emir Agree on Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that the visit of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani exemplifies the progress in Egyptian-Qatari relations and solidifies the path for developing bilateral relations between the two countries. The Egyptian president received the Emir of Qatar today at the Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, where official reception ceremonies took place, including the playing of both national anthems and a review of the honor guard.

The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency stated that the meeting "featured private discussions followed by extensive discussions that included delegations from both countries. The Egyptian president welcomed the Emir of Qatar and congratulated him on the anniversary of his ascension to power in Qatar," emphasizing that this visit "represents the progress in Egyptian-Qatari relations and solidifies the path for developing bilateral relations in various fields in the upcoming period, all in the interest of both countries and their peoples, under the sincere mutual intentions between both sides."

For his part, Emir Tamim bin Hamad thanked the Egyptian president for the warm reception and hospitality, expressing his country's appreciation for Egypt, both its leadership and its people, especially in light of its pivotal role in serving Arab issues and efforts to enhance Arab solidarity on all fronts, as well as the wise policy pursued by Egypt under the leadership of the president on all internal, regional, and international levels.

The Qatari Emir confirmed his country's commitment to continuing mutual steps aimed at promoting and enhancing various mechanisms of bilateral cooperation during the upcoming period, through maximizing Qatari investments in Egypt and utilizing the wide investment opportunities available, appreciating, in this context, the contributions of the Egyptian community in the construction and development process in Qatar across various fields.

It was agreed to develop bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly in sectors like energy and agriculture, as well as investment cooperation and revitalizing trade exchange, especially regarding enhancing the flow of all Qatari investments to Egypt, considering their service to the mutual interests of the two countries.

The spokesperson added that the meeting also addressed developments in regional situations, where the two leaders agreed on the necessity of solidarity and combined efforts among Arab countries, as well as enhancing joint coordination between the two countries to tackle the various crises facing the region.

Regarding developments in the Palestinian issue, the Qatari Emir praised Egypt's ongoing efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip, and there was agreement on the importance of working to revive the peace process to reach a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with international legitimacy.

The discussions also reviewed ways to address the negative repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine crisis on the global economy, as well as the prospects for joint cooperation to combat terrorism and extremist ideologies, emphasizing the importance of intensifying international efforts to confront this phenomenon within a comprehensive strategy that includes addressing the ideological and developmental aspects alongside security confrontations.
