Student in Dubai Sets Record for Hair Donation to Cancer Patients

A 14-year-old student in Dubai recently set a record for donating hair to cancer patients, having donated her hair four times between July 2016 and June 2021. According to the Indian newspaper "Siasat Daily," the student, Alia Romana, who attends the Indian High School in Dubai, donated her hair to cancer charities such as "Friends of Cancer Patients" and "Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon." She received this recognition last week from the India Book of Records.

Alia stated that her interest in this noble cause stemmed from her family upbringing, where she witnessed her parents serving the community by volunteering in various initiatives, such as distributing food in labor camps, visiting patients, and helping a sick person secure financial assistance for treatment. All of this encouraged her to play her part in the community. Additionally, when she saw her older sister donate her hair to cancer patients, she loved the idea of empowering sick women through this simple act of hair donation. Alia believes that donating hair, despite its simplicity as an act, can make a significant difference in the self-esteem of sick individuals and support them during their cancer journey.
