A Dose of AstraZeneca and Another of Pfizer Raise Immunity Levels

A study conducted in South Korea has shown that dual vaccination with one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and one dose of the Pfizer vaccine raises the level of coronavirus antibodies in the body six times compared to receiving two doses of AstraZeneca alone. The study involved 499 healthcare workers, 100 of whom received the dual doses, 200 received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, while the remaining participants received two doses of AstraZeneca. All participants developed antibodies that prevent the virus from entering cells and replicating itself. The study found that the antibody levels in the group receiving the dual vaccination were similar to those in the group that received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine. A British study last month showed similar results. This data supports the decision of several countries to offer alternatives to the AstraZeneca vaccine for the second dose, following its association with the occurrence of blood clots.
