Writer Abdel Rahim Kamal, a member of the jury at the "Afilma" festival, stated that "the festival has a unique idea and the state should support it."
When Professor Samah Anwar spoke to him about it, he agreed. She told him they wanted to organize a festival about three wonderful things: women, cinema, and independence. He expressed his love for short films, describing them as an art form that captures aspects that cannot be conveyed in longer films.
Regarding the details of Yehia El-Fakharany's series, Abdel Rahim Kamal told ET in Arabic, "The nature of the work is social comedy, and this is my fifth collaboration with Yehia El-Fakharany. I am happy to work with him because he is a valuable and important Arab artist. Each project I do with him adds to my experience, and we will watch it during Ramadan, God willing."
In relation to obtaining the rights to two novels by Naguib Mahfouz, and that Ahmed Helmy will be presenting one of them, Kamal clarified, "I have indeed agreed with the Mahfouz family on two novels, but to clarify, Ahmed Helmy will not present either of them. Instead, Ahmed will portray Naguib Mahfouz himself, which is one of my dreams, and I have agreed with him on this, but we have not yet agreed on a timeline for the project's execution." Concerning the popular poster of Ahmed Helmy as the character, he added, "I personally hope to execute this project this year, but I do not know anything about the poster and I have not seen it."
