Saudi Abdulaziz Al-Zahrani, the father of the girl Maha and the ex-husband of the victim who died from acid thrown by her husband in Jeddah, did not expect that his daughter would become a victim of the same "acid" that he uses in his mechanical work. Al-Zahrani stated that the substance is highly dangerous, and although he is specialized in car repair, he only uses it in extreme necessity due to its hazardous nature.
He added that he did not expect to see his daughter Maha in such a severe condition with fourth-degree burns on her legs and that she is living under difficult circumstances due to her illness and the loss of her mother, may she rest in peace, whom he divorced over differing viewpoints, according to "Al Arabiya."
He confirmed that his daughter needs medical and cosmetic treatment, and she is still at Al-Noor Hospital in Mecca, which does not have the necessary specialties because she requires cosmetic surgeries at a developed hospital specialized in treating and cosmetically enhancing children.
He expressed his astonishment at the permission granted to sell this substance and its use for cleaning homes, stating that it is dangerous, and that there should be monitoring of its use and sale to specialized entities due to its chemical nature, which has a danger level of 100%. He called for a ban on its sale, considering it a restricted and prohibited substance for the safety of both children and adults, and that it should only be dispensed to specialists for specific uses. He hopes that the relevant authorities will respond to him and prevent the sale of such materials except to approved institutions or technical specialists in handling these hazardous substances.
Regarding the moment he received the news, he noted that it was an unforeseen shock that had never crossed his mind, and he will not waive punishing the perpetrator due to the excruciating pain his daughter is suffering from because of this harmful substance. He also urgently appealed for her transfer to a specialized pediatric surgery and burn hospital as she needs cosmetic surgery and treatment.
The horrific crime story that the security authorities in Jeddah began investigating dates back to Thursday in an eastern neighborhood of Jeddah, where a citizen poured caustic acid on his wife and daughter, leading to her death while his daughter sustained serious burns and was transferred for treatment.
