Under the title "Documented Tragedy: Elderly Woman Records Her Last Moments Before Flooding," Sky News reported on a tragic incident that occurred in Tennessee, USA. Facebook users witnessed an elderly woman recording her last words before floodwaters overtook her home.
Linda Almond began documenting her surroundings via Facebook Live at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, showcasing the dangerous situation surrounding her and her son in their home in Waverly, Tennessee. In the video, Almond states, "Well, if anyone is watching me on Facebook Live, we are drowning right now in Waverly, Tennessee. It’s really scary."
While filming, she expressed her shock at the situation in a trembling voice, as a man’s voice (her son) can be heard in the background saying, "I think something just hit the side of the house," while the waters continue to surge. Almond added, "This is really scary," before the sound of rushing water is heard, followed by her exclaiming, "Oh my God," and the video ends.
The elderly woman and her son managed to climb onto the roof of their home as the floodwaters rose; however, they were swept away when the roof collapsed, according to WKRN reports. Family members explained that her son was rescued, but she lost her life due to the flooding.
It is noteworthy that the catastrophic flooding in the state resulted in at least 22 deaths, as reported by the British newspaper "Daily Star." Among the deceased were seven-month-old twins in Nashville, who were swept from their father's arms.
