A recent scientific study published in Israel revealed that the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19 slightly increases the risk of heart inflammation and related diseases. However, the risk of adverse heart effects is greater among patients infected with the coronavirus. The results of this study came just days after the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was fully approved for use across the United States for individuals over the age of 16, a step expected to persuade those still hesitant about vaccination to reconsider their stance.
Researchers confirmed that among every 100,000 people vaccinated, approximately one to five individuals are likely to develop myocarditis. They added that this rate is significantly higher, potentially reaching 11 individuals per 100,000, among those who contracted the coronavirus. These findings were based on data from Clalit Health Services, a large healthcare provider in Israel, and were published on Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, according to a report by Reuters.
