Worker in Hospital Puts Poison in Manager's Coffee After Threat

The head of the Shubra El Kheima Criminal Court has ordered the continued imprisonment of a cleaning worker at the 23rd of July Hospital in Khanka for 45 days pending investigation into the attempted murder of the hospital's stockkeeper. She was accused of poisoning him by adding rat poison to his "coffee with milk."

The Qalyubia Security Directorate received a report from the hospital about the arrival of "S.M." (58 years old), the administrative manager of the 23rd of July Hospital, who was suffering from severe malaise after ingesting a toxic substance while at work. Upon investigation, it was revealed that "N.M." (32 years old), a cleaning worker at the hospital, had added rat poison to the drink for the victim due to previous conflicts between them. This was triggered by his discovery of her stealing a sum of money from him during a monthly inventory check in his office, and her failure to report the theft despite promising to return the amount.

When confronted, the accused admitted to committing the act and acknowledged putting poison in the coffee she made for the victim, with the intention of eliminating him to prevent him from demanding the money back.

According to "Al-Masry Al-Youm," during the prosecution's investigations, the accused stated that after the victim discovered her crime, he threatened to notify the police. Therefore, she decided to eliminate him and slipped rat poison into the cup of coffee with milk he requested from her. She justified her crime by stating that she was in urgent need of money and saw no other option but to steal it from the victim during the inventory, but he exposed her and threatened that if she did not repay the money, he would report her to the police. He continued to pursue her until she took advantage of his request for a cup of coffee and poisoned him to get rid of him. However, he was rescued and taken to Damardash Hospital for treatment.
