Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, launched today, Tuesday, the development strategy for the Asir region under the slogan "Peaks and Virtues." This strategy aims to achieve an unprecedented comprehensive developmental renaissance for the region by injecting 50 billion riyals through diverse investments to finance vital projects and develop tourist attractions on the majestic peaks of Asir, making it a year-round global destination. It relies on the region's strengths, blending culture and nature with authenticity and modernity, contributing to the social and economic growth in the area.
The Saudi Crown Prince announced that the Asir strategy aims to transform the region into a year-round global tourist destination, attracting more than 10 million visitors from within and outside the Kingdom by 2030. This will leverage the region's immense tourist potential, which will be invested in quality tourism projects to highlight its majestic peaks, along with its geographic and natural diversity, and to showcase its rich cultural and heritage wealth.
He emphasized that the Asir strategy seeks to attract investments from both within the Kingdom and abroad, which in turn will contribute to creating effective economic momentum by activating a comprehensive system to facilitate procedures and enhancing the role of tourism and culture as key drivers for economic development in Asir. He noted that the implementation of this strategy will contribute by 2030 to providing new job opportunities, in addition to improving quality of life and upgrading basic services and infrastructure in the region, including communications, health, transportation, and other enabling factors.
Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Emir of the Asir region, expressed appreciation for the Crown Prince's continuous support and his kind interest in the Asir region and its people. He acknowledged the launch of the Asir development strategy, which aims to achieve comprehensive renaissance in the area, benefiting the people of Asir and its residents, enhancing quality of life, improving infrastructure and services, attracting investments, and propelling social and economic development in the region.
