Russian President Vladimir Putin stated today, Monday, that the Russian vaccines against the COVID-19 virus are effectively working against the strains spreading throughout Europe.
President Putin met with the head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, Veronika Skvortsova, and asked her to inform him about the department's work results for 2020. He noted that the Federal Medical and Biological Agency has many areas of interest and activities, all of which are very important for the healthcare system and even for certain large sectors of the economy. Putin said, "As I have been told, the vaccines we have today are effective against these mutant strains that frighten everyone in Europe, as tests of these COVID-19 vaccines show that our vaccines are effective against these strains."
It is worth mentioning that Russia has registered three vaccines against the COVID-19 virus. The first was the "Sputnik V" vaccine registered by the Russian Ministry of Health in August of last year, developed by the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. This vaccine was the first in the world to prevent COVID-19. The second was named "EpiVacCorona," developed by the State Research Center "Vector" for Virology and Biotechnology. Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced the registration of a third vaccine, "KoviVak," against the COVID-19 virus in Russia, developed at the Chumakov Federal Scientific Center for Biomedical Immunobiological Drugs of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
