Saudi Youth Face Damac to Confirm Top Position in the Saudi Professional League

The Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Stadium in Abha will host the match between Al-Shabab Club and their hosts Damac Club, concluding the fixtures of the 21st round of the Mohammed bin Salman Cup "Saudi Professional League" for the current 2020-2021 season.

It is worth noting that the match was initially scheduled for yesterday, Sunday, but the inability of the Al-Shabab team to travel from the Saudi capital Riyadh to Abha due to flight conditions led the Saudi Football Federation to postpone the match for 24 hours.

Al-Shabab will be aiming to secure victory and strengthen their lead at the top of the Saudi league table, as they are pursued by Al-Hilal, who is in second place. On the other hand, Damac will be seeking a win in today’s match to distance themselves from the threat of relegation to the first division next season, as the team has only managed 4 victories this season.

In today’s game, Al-Shabab will rely on the experienced Argentine Ever Banega, the Portuguese Fabio Martinez, and the outstanding striker Cristian Guanca, who is currently third in the top scorers' list with 13 goals, one goal behind the duo of Fabio Abreu from Al-Batin and Frenchman Bafetimbi Gomis from Al-Hilal. Meanwhile, Damac relies on their Argentine player Emiliano Zelaya, who has scored 10 goals this season.

Notably, Damac is positioned 15th and second to last in the Saudi league standings with 17 points, while Al-Shabab is at the top with 41 points. The match is set to take place today at 3:05 PM Mecca time and will be broadcast on Saudi Sports Channel.
