A strange and mysterious case has sparked considerable debate in Egypt, particularly on social media. In the latest development, the Egyptian Attorney General issued an order on Sunday to reopen the investigation into the death of an Egyptian woman in a washing machine. The Attorney General's decision came following a complaint filed by her family, who accused her husband and his family of murder.
The deceased woman, named Omnia, had her story shared by her brother, who took to Twitter with the hashtags "Washing Machine Incident" and "Murdered or Committed Suicide." Alaa, her brother, stated that his sister died on July 2, 2021, just 45 days after giving birth. He expressed his disbelief in his brother-in-law's account, who claimed he woke up to find her dead in the washing machine, emphasizing that there was no laundry inside that could cause electrocution.
Alaa added that they arrived at her home at 8 a.m. after hearing noises from inside, only to be shocked to find Omnia had been dead for six hours, with her husband and mother-in-law making no effort to save or help her. He clarified that the death report identified the cause as "asphyxia due to drowning," and the rigor mortis visible on her mouth indicated that death occurred six hours earlier, prompting them to approach the prosecution to reopen the investigation into the case.
