As Russia officially entered a phase of complete ban on Instagram today, along with other social media platforms owned by the American company Meta, a famous Russian blogger named Nikaxta appeared in a video, crying and lamenting her misfortune due to the decision by Russian President Vladimir Putin to ban the popular site. In her message to fans on Telegram, she questioned whether it was an adequate source of income, making her a target for widespread criticism. "Instagram is the most important... I don't care about the thousands of dead," she responded to the backlash, asserting that she is entirely unconcerned with the thousands of casualties, including those from her own country, stressing that Instagram is her entire life as she has spent most of her time on it for over 5 years. Others launched a broad campaign against her, claiming that "her interests are confined to photographing food in restaurants," condemning her stance and statements.
### Official Ban on Instagram
It is notable that the Russian government’s media watchdog announced the banning of Instagram in the country due to what it considered calls for violence against Russian soldiers. This decision followed the announcement by Meta, the owner of Instagram, that it would temporarily allow its users in certain countries to call for violence against President Vladimir Putin and Russian soldiers. In a statement, it indicated that it would temporarily permit some violent posts that were usually considered prohibited. In response to Meta's shift in policy, Russia urged the United States to stop the "extremist activities" of social media giants. Additionally, the company stated that this banning decision would prevent millions from accessing the app, thus being a major cause of income loss for many.
