Arrest of a Person Claiming Prophethood in Saudi Arabia

Saudi authorities have arrested an individual who appeared in a video claiming to be a prophet, according to the Saudi General Security account associated with the Ministry of Interior. Riyadh police stated that they apprehended a Saudi citizen "in an abnormal condition who appeared in a video claiming prophethood and using obscene language." Additionally, he damaged vehicles on a public road and threatened passersby with a white weapon. The police reported that legal actions have been taken against this individual, and he has been referred to the public prosecutor's office. No additional details have been provided by Saudi authorities.

In recent hours, Twitter users circulated a video of a person standing on a public road, screaming insults, and repeating statements about his prophecy, declaring himself the "Messenger of Truth." This incident follows a recent claim of prophethood by a person in Lebanon on social media, for which Lebanese authorities were pursuing him on charges including contempt of religion. According to the official National News Agency, the Secretary of the Fatwa House, Sheikh Amin Al-Kurdi, filed a report with the public prosecutor against the individual claiming to be Nashat Mundhar, following instructions from the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, based on legal provisions in the penal code.
