On Thursday, the Tunisian presidency reported President Qais Saeed's statement that some individuals are attempting to cut off drinking water to certain areas and are responsible for arson, indicating that there are those who have tampered with Tunisians in all aspects of life, but purification will be achieved through the law.
The Tunisian president stated, "There is absolutely no turning back, and we will move forward," confirming that public facilities continue to operate "despite the danger that has become a reality everywhere." He added, "Those who want to distort facts will find that history will expose them."
President Saeed also remarked that "some want to burn forests and fields and wish to harm the people, but our forces will confront them." On Wednesday, Qais Saeed affirmed that he is not an advocate of "coups," but he calls for the law to be applied equally to everyone. He mentioned in statements released by the Tunisian presidency that "the wheels of the state" are functioning normally, even though Tunisia is experiencing exceptional circumstances.
For his part, Rashid Ghannouchi, leader of the Tunisian Ennahda Movement, retracted his position regarding President Qais Saeed, announcing the movement's support for the Tunisian president. In media statements on Wednesday, he said, "We will support President Qais Saeed and work to ensure his success, which requires readiness for sacrifices, in order to maintain the stability of the country and the continuation of democracy."
He also added, "We await the president's roadmap, and there is no solution except through dialogue under his supervision," marking a significant shift in Ghannouchi's stance, who was once one of the most prominent opponents of these decisions.
It is worth noting that President Qais Saeed decided on July 25 to freeze all parliamentary powers for a month, strip its members of immunity, and dismiss the government led by Hicham Mechichi, while taking on the presidency of the executive authority and the public prosecutor's office, based on Article 80 of the constitution.
