Divorce Case After 15 Years: The Reason is "He Never Told Me a Nice Word"

Divorce Case After 15 Years: The Reason is

Some may think that she is unjustified in her divorce request, believing that the reason she cites is insignificant. However, the psychological pain endured by a woman deprived of her husband's affection and tenderness is immense and may be unbearable for many. Zina stated in her divorce case: "He never told me a nice word, and money is more important to him than his father." Unable to tolerate this situation any longer, she turned to the family court to end her marriage after losing hope for her husband's cold nature to change, according to the Egyptian newspaper "Al-Watan."

Zina discussed the details of her marriage, explaining that she was only 16 when she received many marriage proposals. Her husband, who is over 10 years older than her, was convinced by her family that it was normal for a man to be older and more mature. They agreed to the engagement, but he was difficult to deal with and indifferent to her. Whenever she tried to speak with him, he would excuse himself by saying he was busy with work. After repeatedly expressing her dissatisfaction to her mother, and receiving no support, they proceeded with the marriage after a few months.

Zina shared that, in the beginning years of her marriage, she tried to adapt to her situation, hoping for a warm home and a decent husband. She had three children with him, and although their life was normal, some daily issues arose that they managed to solve together. However, over time, she began feeling lonely and realized that she was missing tenderness and affection, as he only cared about his work. Despite this, she found solace in her children's innocent smiles.

She mentioned that she would ask him to spend time with them at home and take an interest in his children, so they could feel affection and companionship with him. Instead, he would argue with her, dismiss her requests, claiming that she wanted him to neglect work for the sake of the home and children, and that she was incapable of handling the responsibilities. He would count her personal expenses and demean her by reminding her that he was financially providing for her and insisted she should endure it.

As time passed, their problems increased, leading her to no longer withstand living with him and dealing with his difficult approach. She expressed, "For 15 years, I haven't heard a nice word from him, and money matters more to him than his father and mother. He has never been kind to me, and he is harsh even with our children, thinking that his role is merely to provide for them, believing that money will ensure their well-being. When I complain to my family, they tell me that my home is more important than anything. When I complained to his family, they said I wanted him to leave work and stay home. Whenever I speak to him, he tells me that work is more important."

Zina concluded her talk by stating that life with him became impossible in the last two years, prompting her to consider separation. When he refused, she left the house and began the process of divorce after 15 years. She went to the family court in Imbaba and filed for divorce, case number 634, and she is still awaiting the court's verdict.
