Reliable media reports have revealed the latest developments in the negotiations between Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, his agent, and Liverpool's management regarding the renewal of his contract. Mohamed Salah's contract with Liverpool is set to expire in the summer of 2023, and the future of the Egyptian star remains unclear due to stalled negotiations between both parties over a contract renewal.
Mohamed Salah is having a standout season with Liverpool, leading the Premier League scoring charts with 19 goals and having scored 8 goals in the Champions League so far. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in player transfer news, reported via his social media accounts this past Friday that Salah and his agent have no interest in accepting Liverpool's current offer.
Media reports suggest that Liverpool is offering a weekly salary of £450,000 to Mohamed Salah. The renowned journalist added that despite this, Salah's priority is to stay at Liverpool, but he is requesting the club to increase the offered amount.
Romano clarified that the last meeting between Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas, and Liverpool's management took place last December, after which negotiations between the two parties halted.
For his part, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool's manager, stated at a press conference regarding the upcoming match against Brighton, "Contract renewal for Salah? We can't do much more than this, but the decision largely rests with Salah; the club has done what it can." He added, "I believe everything is alright from my perspective; nothing has happened so far, he hasn't rejected or accepted; we just have to wait."
Ramy Abbas responded to Klopp's comments by posting a tweet on the social media platform Twitter featuring laughing emojis, which he seemingly intended as a signal regarding the strained negotiation situation between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool's management. This tweet coincided with Klopp's remarks regarding the player's contract renewal.
