Twitter Prepares to Launch Paid Service

The Twitter network is preparing to launch its new paid service, Twitter Blue. Researcher Jane Manchun Wong first revealed two weeks ago that the social media platform is developing a new subscription service.

Last Thursday, Twitter added a new version of its app on the App Store for smart devices running iOS, introducing "Twitter Blue." The subscription fee for this app is expected to be $2.99 per month.

TechCrunch, a technology-focused website, reported that while users cannot subscribe to Twitter Blue even after downloading the update at present, Wong revealed some details about the service, indicating that it will be launched very soon.

Wong stated that the new service offers users many features such as customized colors and symbols, as well as a "reading mode" that transforms posts into easy-to-read text.

It is noteworthy that Twitter currently relies on advertisements broadcast on the site for 80% of its revenue. The company mentioned to Bloomberg News in February that it is "exploring and testing" new ways to monetize the Twitter platform, especially with the slowdown in the growth of its user base.
