Iraqi Forces Continue Purging the Country of ISIS Remnants

Iraqi forces announced the destruction of four hideouts and explosives belonging to the terrorist organization "ISIS" in various regions of the north, east, and west of the country.

Russian news agency Sputnik reported that the Security Media Cell issued a statement this evening announcing that a force from the Anbar Operations Command began a search mission in the areas of Al-Naimiyah and Al-Humayra in the west of the country to arrest suspects and check families, ensuring security and stability. The cell disclosed that three 120mm mortars were found and detonated on-site.

The statement also mentioned that a force from the advanced headquarters of the Joint Operations Command in Kirkuk conducted a search operation in the "Karha Rashadi" valley to track down ISIS members and uncovered two hideouts, which were completely destroyed.

Furthermore, the statement indicated that in the Diyala Operations sector, an operation was initiated to surround and search the swamps of Al-Islah and Al-Hanita to prevent terrorist elements from using these areas as shelters. This resulted in the detonation of an abandoned vehicle and the on-site destruction of two hideouts.

Additionally, a force from the Al-Jazira Operations Command was deployed to conduct a preemptive operation within its area of responsibility, where ten explosive devices were located and handled according to protocols.

Iraqi security forces continue their search and cleanup operations, pursuing remnants of ISIS (banned in Russia) across the country to ensure the organization and its fleeing members do not resurge. Iraq announced in December 2017 the complete liberation of its territory from ISIS after nearly three and a half years of confrontations with the terrorist organization, which occupied about one-third of the country.
