Dark mode has become one of the most prominent features offered by many applications, services, and operating systems. Its significant benefits include reducing eye strain and extending battery life. Snapchat has recently become one of the latest applications to officially offer this feature in the iOS version.
## Activating Dark Mode in Snapchat
The app has not yet provided reasons for not launching the dark mode feature for Android users. If you are using an iPhone, here’s how to activate it:
1. Open the Snapchat app on your iPhone.
2. Tap on your profile picture in the top left corner of the screen.
3. Press the gear icon in the top right corner, then select the 'Appearance' option.
4. You will see three options to choose from: Always Dark, Dark Mode when the phone is in dark mode, or Always Light.
5. Select the "Always Dark" option.
As for Android users, there is no official method to enable dark mode in the application. However, one workaround is to enable system-wide dark mode, which forces external applications to switch to dark mode.
It is worth mentioning that the company has recently upgraded the map feature within the app by including a new feature that displays popular places you might want to visit. You can also discover more than 30 million businesses. The platform aims to enhance business discovery through a new element on the Snapchat map called “My Favorites,” which highlights popular businesses and places you have previously visited on the map display.
A spokesperson for the company stated: "This new algorithm in our Discover tab distinguishes Snapchat's map as an extremely customized discovery platform, marking the first feature of its kind for Snapchat overall." Additionally, the company reported having 293 million daily users, approximately 42 percent more than Twitter users.
