Syrian Ambassador to Russia, Riyad Haddad, revealed that Russian supplies have started to arrive in Syria, in accordance with agreements recently signed between the two countries. He confirmed that a portion of these supplies has already arrived and will continue to arrive regularly in the coming period.

The Syrian newspaper Al-Watan reported today on Ambassador Haddad's confirmation that Russian supplies, primarily wheat, have begun reaching Syria. He noted that the agreed-upon supplies are long-term and will meet a significant portion of the Syrian people's needs, with petroleum products and wheat at the forefront. He affirmed that these supplies will continue to arrive during March and April, with a set schedule established.

Haddad mentioned that an agreement has been made with the Russian side for a long-term plan to meet the monthly essential needs of the Syrian people. He also pointed out that preparations are ongoing for the upcoming meeting of the Syrian-Russian Permanent Joint Committee for Commercial, Economic, Technical, and Scientific Cooperation, which will take place this month in Damascus. He indicated that discussions are underway to determine the meeting date, likely in the latter half of the month.

He stated that the committee will be chaired by the Russian side's Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, the co-chair of the Permanent Russian-Syrian Committee, and is expected to be attended by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, as well as a group of Russian businessmen.

Haddad revealed that the joint committee meetings will involve signing several agreements aimed at enhancing the level of commercial and economic relations between the two countries, which will also help mitigate the negative impacts of the coercive sanctions imposed on Syria. He clarified that one of the main agreements to be signed is the agreement to strengthen and expand economic and commercial cooperation between Syria and Russia, stating that the committee's meetings will take a purely economic nature.

The Syrian ambassador in Russia emphasized that the issue of circumventing sanctions is discussed in every joint discussion session between the two countries, constantly exploring ways for both nations to work around these sanctions in a manner that secures their mutual interests. He confirmed that every step taken regarding the delivery of Russian supplies involves discussions about how to transport and deliver these supplies to Syria.
