Dr. Mikhail Ginsburg, a Russian nutrition expert, revealed how to lose excess weight caused by nervous situations without harming health. Dr. Ginsburg, director of the Institute of Nutrition Research and Dietary Therapy in Samara, stated in a talk with Radio Sputnik that many individuals who suffer from anxiety and psychological stress tend to increase their intake of fatty and sweet foods, which sometimes leads to weight gain.
He adds that it is important in this case to stabilize one’s mental state and not to try to quickly shed extra kilograms by abstaining and limiting food intake. He says, "Usually, people who suffer from anxiety gain weight, which increases their anxiety even more. Therefore, they say they will not eat anything. But this is a grave mistake, as they usually experience a breakdown that adds a few more kilograms to their weight. So they should not feel hungry. Hunger is painful and leads to breakdowns and the gain of additional 'nervous' kilograms." According to him, hot baths, walking, and drinking soothing tea, in particular, help alleviate anxiety.
