Statement from the Lebanese Army Regarding Israeli Maritime and Aerial Violations

The Army Command issued a statement concerning Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace and territorial waters.

The National News Agency reported that the Directorate of Guidance at the Army Command indicated that on February 22, 2021, from 04:10 to 06:49, two hostile maritime violations of Lebanese territorial waters were recorded off the coast of Ras al-Naqura, at a distance of up to 130 meters, during which one of the elements dropped a flare over the mentioned maritime area. The agency pointed to aerial violations, clarifying that on February 22, 2021, at 08:15, an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace over the town of Mis al-Jabal and carried out circular flights over southern regions before exiting at 08:45 over the town of Yaroun. Additionally, on February 21, 2021, from 17:50 to 23:10, three aerial violations were recorded by Israeli reconnaissance aircraft, which included circular flights over southern areas.

The statement added that the issue of the violations is being monitored in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

In another context, units from the naval and air forces, along with the Marine Commandos Regiment in Amchit - Jounieh, conducted a joint combat exercise "Operation Deep Horizon" in collaboration with an American training team, attended by a number of officers from both the Lebanese and American armies. The exercise simulated a combat scenario involving: boarding and inspecting vessels held by terrorists (by sea and air), intercepting vessels and inspecting them, and controlling both cooperating and non-cooperating vessels (VBSS).
