The Lebanese Army arrested a gang that targeted passersby and stole their cars at the Zahgrain junction in Hermel.
The National News Agency reported a statement from the Directorate of Guidance at the Army Command clarifying that on 8/2/2021, after receiving information about a group of individuals robbing passersby and stealing their vehicles at the Zahgrain - Hermel intersection, a military force immediately proceeded to the area where they arrested (A.N.), (M.N.), (M.M.N.), and (F.N.), who comprised a gang involved in car thefts, in addition to the actions of (M.N.) who had previously fired a weapon and kidnapped a citizen in the Hermel area.
The statement added that a vehicle and a military weapon with ammunition were seized and the detainees, along with the seized items, were handed over to the relevant authorities for investigation.
In a different context, the Army Command published a video about the rehabilitation of archaeological castles and tourist sites, as well as cleaning beaches and rivers contaminated with oil, particularly after the Israeli aggression against Lebanon in 2006. The video included scenes of the Army's participation in the Great Blue campaign and the cleaning of archaeological sites in Baalbek Castle, Tyre, and Ramlet al-Baydah, among various regions in Lebanon.
