The famous American actor, Brad Pitt, has filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife Angelina Jolie after she sold her share in a French winery to a Russian businessman. Pitt stated in the lawsuit that Jolie sold her stake in the French winery "Château Miraval" without officially informing him, to businessman Yuri Shefler. Brad Pitt (58 years old) is seeking to annul the agreement that Jolie (46 years old) made with a financial group managed by Shefler, in addition to monetary damages.
He mentioned that he and Jolie purchased the French winery in 2008 for $28.4 million, with Angelina Jolie contributing about 40 percent of the funding, equivalent to $11.3 million. He stated that he made significant efforts to improve the winery's performance and profitability. According to the American actor, he had an agreement with his ex-wife that they would not sell their shares in the winery without the other's consent, which she violated.
However, Angelina Jolie claimed that she obtained approval from Brad Pitt last year to seek a buyer, with him having the right to approve the sale. Ultimately, the American actress sold the winery in October 2021 to a Russian businessman who made his fortune during the collapse of the Soviet Union. Brad Pitt alleges that the Russian businessman Yuri Shefler has harmed the efficiency of the French winery.
