Sherine: I Don't Suffer from a Mental Illness, and That's Why I Shaved My Head

Egyptian artist Sherine Abdel Wahab revealed on Saturday evening the details of her divorce crisis from artist Hossam Habib and her recent appearance with a shaved head during a concert in the UAE, which caused a major stir and sparked controversy. In television statements, the Egyptian artist expressed that she is currently experiencing emotional instability but does not suffer from a mental illness. She justified this by stating that she is an extremely sensitive person and felt that she was being "slaughtered" due to the pressure she faced lately and the turmoil surrounding her divorce. She added that she decided to punish herself by shaving her head and reappearing before the public and returning to her work, indicating that she also did this to appear unattractive to her ex-husband (Hossam Habib) in hopes that he would agree to the divorce.

Sherine mentioned that she inherited this habit from her father, who would shave his head completely during any crisis. She noted that she did it herself before seeking a hairstylist to add final touches. Sherine Abdel Wahab stated that she suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder after giving birth to her daughters and constantly thinks that they are at risk of harm; she is still receiving treatment for this condition. She added that she has realized that her audience is all she has left; they are currently her only source of comfort and safety, and she must rely on herself and not on anyone else.

The Egyptian artist appeared with a shaved head during her performance at the "Mama Emirates" festival, which was her first appearance after her divorce. She received significant support from her fellow artists and the audience, who sympathized with her after she revealed her recent psychological struggles and expressed her desire to return to her artistic life.
